Apart from the aforementioned requirements, the candidate must be enrolled full-time (minimum of two courses per semester or term) or part-time at one of the universities below AND be enrolled at one of the following universities for the upcoming academic year (January to December or September to May):

- University of the Free State
Candidates from nations other than South Africa who meet the requirements must already have a valid study permit for the country. The estimated costs ought to be computed and stated in Rand.
