2024 Africa Business Heroes Competition for Young African Entrepreneurs (1.5 million USD in grants)

The 2024 Africa Business Heroes Competition invites applications to recognize, aid, and motivate the upcoming wave of African entrepreneurs committed to effecting change in their communities.

This initiative strives for inclusivity, welcoming applicants from across the continent, irrespective of sector, age, or nationality. The competition embraces diversity by accepting submissions in both English and French, ensuring accessibility to a wide pool of innovators.

To qualify

Entrants must helm businesses officially registered and based in an African nation, demonstrating a track record of at least three years. ABH aims to foster a sustainable and inclusive economy by empowering entrepreneurs dedicated to addressing pressing issues and fostering local development. By providing a platform for budding visionaries, the competition endeavors to catalyze positive change and pave the way for a brighter future across Africa.

Eligibility Requirements

As a founder or co-founder, you stand at the helm of a company deeply rooted in Africa. Whether as a native African citizen or a direct descendant, your ties to the continent run strong.

Your company is not just registered in Africa but proudly headquartered there, embodying a commitment to the region’s growth and prosperity. With a solid foundation built over at least three years, your venture has gained significant market traction, reflecting its ability to meet the needs of consumers and clients alike.

Revenue streams flow steadily, affirming the sustainability and viability of your enterprise. In a landscape ripe with innovation and potential, your company stands as a beacon of success, contributing to the economic and social advancement of Africa. Through your leadership and dedication, you continue to drive forward, empowering communities and shaping a brighter future for the continent and its people.

Benefits

Grant funds of up to $300,000 are available. The top 10 finalists will share a prize pool of $1.5 million in grants, with amounts ranging from $100,000 to $300,000. The winner will receive $300,000, the first runner-up and second runner-up will receive $250,000 and $150,000 respectively.

The remaining seven finalists will each receive $100,000. An additional $100,000 is set aside for global immersion training.Global recognition and exposureABH highlights skilled African entrepreneurs as they advance in the competition through press releases, social media, and news articles at each stage. Additionally, we offer substantial exposure to the top 10 finalists through comprehensive PR campaigns and media coverage.

Gain access to an exclusive and dynamic entrepreneurship community and network. Finalists become part of an exclusive community consisting of some of the most influential and successful entrepreneurs from across the continent. ABH hosts various online and offline networking events where these entrepreneurs can connect and work together.

Mentorship from prominent business leaders:

The finalists receive access to mentorship opportunities with renowned global business icons, investors, and professionals during and after the competition.

Specialized and practical training programs are available to ABH community members. These programs cover topics such as financial management, marketing insights, understanding IP law, and more. Finalists also have the chance to access additional programs and services like investment readiness and management training through our network of partners and judges.

Insights into your businessDuring the application process, we assist our applicants in enhancing their storytelling and pitching skills through a reflective application process.
