The 2024–25 Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship in London is now open for applications. This esteemed fellowship program lasts for 10 months and is tailored for early- to mid-career individuals who want to pursue a research project at Chatham House in London. Throughout the fellowship, participants will have the chance to develop their leadership skills and gain deeper insights into the international affairs field. 

The fellowship is available to individuals of all nationalities, and there are no application fees. To be eligible, applicants must have a BA degree or its equivalent. The Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship encourages applicants from various backgrounds, including government, research, academia, civil society, and journalism. Successful fellows will spend 10 months at Chatham House from October 2024 to July 2025, with all expenses covered by the Richard and Susan Hayden Academy.

Benefits of the Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Program 2024

The accepted fellows will receive:

  • A monthly stipend of £2,365 to cover London living costs, including accommodation, utilities, food, transport, and other basic expenses.
  • Airfare and train Tickets to and from the UK.
  • The fellowship also covers Visas
  • A payment towards the UK’s Immigration Healthcare Surcharge, which allows access to the UK National Health Service
  • Fieldwork expenses such as travel, conferences, and publications.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizenship: All nationalities are welcome to apply for the fellowship.
  • Education: Candidates must have experience conducting research and hold a completed Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
  • Age Requirement: No age restriction exists.
  • The Perfect Applicant: Individuals working in academia, non-governmental organizations, business, government agencies, civil society, or the media are eligible to apply for the fellowship. 
  • Be knowledgeable about and interested in global issues.

Selection Criteria

Those who made the shortlist will receive an invitation to a Zoom interview. Following the interview, fellows will receive an email informing them of their selection.
