Introduction to the MCW Young Leaders Fellowship 2024
The MCW Young Leaders Fellowship 2024 is another exchange program in the USA for people worldwide. The Young Leaders Fellowship is a kind of leadership opportunity open to all young people between 18 and 26 from all over the world. The program focuses on the management and leadership skills needed to address the areas of education, health, and economic security.
The Young Leaders Fellowship also provides a platform for young people from different countries to network, share experiences, and work together to find solutions to global challenges. Furthermore, the program gives participants the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in an international setting.
The MCW Young Leaders Fellowship is a year-long program in which participants will spend 10 days in New York, USA, in July 2024. IELTS and TOEFL are not required. The MCW YLF is open to students of any background, whether Bachelor, Master, or PhD, who come up with an idea. Further details are provided below.
How will the MCW Young Leaders Fellowship Program start?
- 1 Month Virtual Assessment: The program will start with intensive community mapping and needs assessment. Young leaders will be provided with tools and knowledge to assess their communities.
- In Person in the USA (10 days): Young Leaders will travel to the United States in July 2024 for 10 days. Participants will come to the fellowship with an issue in the community they want to address.
- Virtual Project Implementation: After returning from the United States, participants will implement those ideas and execute them in their communities.

- Housing from the evening of July 8 – July 18, 2024
- Three meals per day from July 9 – July 18, 2024
- Round-trip travel from New York, New York to Burlington, Vermont
- Public Transportation to and from JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark Airports
There will be accommodations available at New York University in New York and Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.
Eligibility Criteria
- Young leaders from all around the world are eligible.
- Young leaders can be from any field, discipline, or background.
- Identify an issue in their community in education, health, or economic security
- Be between the ages of 18 and 26 at the start of the program (June 1, 2024)
- Be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Be eligible for appropriate visa and travel documentation.
Application Deadline
For the MCW Young Leaders Fellowship 2024, turn in a completed application by November 12th, 2023, at the latest.

- December 4, 2023: First-round Decisions Sent Out; Shortlist Candidates Notified; Second-Round Application Opens

- January 10 – 19, 2024: Interviews with Alumni
- January 26, 2024: Acceptances Sent Out
- February 2, 2024: Confirmation of Acceptances
- February 9, 2024: Confirmation of Visa Interview Date and Deposit
- June 1 – June 30, 2024: Community Needs Assessment
- July 9–18, 2024: In-Person Training Program—Young Leaders Fellowship in New York, New York, and Burlington, Vermont

Note: MCW requires all accepted participants to pay a $100 deposit fee by February 9, 2024. The deposit will be refunded to the participant in full on July 18, 2024, after arriving in the USA.
