INTRODUCTION TO THE 2024 INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUNG UNEMPLOYED NIGERIANS BY LAP

The Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (LAP) represents a strategic initiative designed to empower the youth aged 18-25 with contemporary agricultural knowledge and skills, thereby illuminating the potentials within the realm of Food Systems. LAP operates through a multifaceted approach comprising training, internship, and mentorship frameworks.

Aligned with the Ministry of Agriculture’s pivotal role in advancing the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Developmental Agenda of the State Government, LAP addresses key pillars such as Capacity Building, Employment Generation, and the promotion of Food Security. By focusing on these critical areas, LAP aims to foster a sustainable agricultural ecosystem while simultaneously harnessing the untapped potential of the younger generation.

At its core, LAP serves as a conduit for knowledge transfer, equipping participants with the latest advancements in agricultural practices. Through comprehensive training modules, participants gain insights into modern techniques, innovative technologies, and best practices tailored to contemporary agricultural landscapes. By honing their skills in areas such as crop cultivation, livestock management, and agribusiness, participants emerge as adept agripreneurs poised to navigate the complexities of the agricultural sector.

Moreover, LAP facilitates hands-on learning experiences through internship placements within various agricultural enterprises. By immersing themselves in real-world agricultural settings, participants gain invaluable practical insights, refine their techniques, and develop a nuanced understanding of industry dynamics. These internships serve as incubators for budding agripreneurs, fostering creativity, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit among participants.

In addition to training and internships

LAP provides mentorship opportunities, enabling participants to tap into the wisdom and guidance of seasoned agricultural experts. Mentors offer personalized support, sharing their experiences, offering strategic advice, and nurturing participants’ professional growth. This mentorship component not only bolsters participants’ confidence but also cultivates a sense of community and collaboration within the agricultural ecosystem.

By nurturing a new generation of agripreneurs, LAP contributes to the overarching goals of the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Government. Through capacity building initiatives, LAP enhances the skillset and employability of young individuals, fostering economic empowerment and social inclusion. Furthermore, by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, LAP contributes to the realization of food security objectives, ensuring a resilient and food-secure future for Lagos State.

In essence, the Lagos Agripreneurship Programme represents a beacon of hope and opportunity, propelling the youth towards a brighter, more prosperous future within the agricultural landscape. Through its holistic approach encompassing training, internship, and mentorship, LAP catalyzes positive change, driving sustainable development and fostering a vibrant agripreneurial ecosystem within Lagos State.
