Introduction to the UNESCO/APCEIU Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education

Applications are now being accepted for the tenth installment of the UNESCO/APCEIU Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED).

Dedicated to fostering the potential of young individuals, the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) offers a vibrant platform for dialogue, idea generation, networking, and fostering mutual understanding on GCED and youth advocacy.

These efforts aim to catalyze positive changes towards a culture of peace across diverse levels of society. Since its inception in 2015, the Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED, organized by APCEIU in collaboration with partners such as the GCED Youth Network, has served as an annual forum for empowerment and collaboration.

This year’s workshop, themed “Youth Voices for Transforming Education through GCED,” will take place online, providing an inclusive space for youth leaders who champion the principles of global citizenship through education.

Participants are encouraged to engage in lively discussions and share their experiences with fellow global citizens from around the globe. Scheduled from April 29th to May 10th, the workshop spans a total of ten days, offering ample opportunities for learning and collaboration.

Selected workshop graduates will gain access to valuable resources, including grants and mentorship, to support their endeavors in implementing follow-up initiatives.

This initiative underscores APCEIU’s commitment to nurturing the leadership potential of young individuals and empowering them to drive meaningful change within their communities and beyond.

By focusing on the transformative power of education in fostering global citizenship, the workshop aims to amplify the voices of youth leaders who are committed to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and peaceful world.

Through collaborative efforts and shared experiences, participants will explore innovative approaches to addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development.

As the world continues to grapple with complex issues such as climate change, social inequality, and cultural division, the role of youth in shaping a more harmonious and interconnected future has never been more critical.
