Introduction to the GROW PhD Program 2024
Applications are now open for the GROW (Graduate Research on Worldwide Challenges) PhD Program 2024 for international students. A network of internationally collaborating universities from the Netherlands, together with their partners on the African continent, are launching an international PhD programme. The programme will provide tomorrow’s leaders with a unique opportunity to conduct high-quality and innovative research related to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in Africa.
Globally renowned professors will supervise the PhD students, with support from societal actors and academics from African partners. The programme aims to contribute to understanding and addressing urgent worldwide challenges. The GROW initiative involves raising funds for 51 four-year PhD positions, with candidates from anywhere in the world, to pursue scientifically challenging research that links low- and middle-income countries in Africa with Europe.
Funding for the initiative has been granted by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND programme of the European Union. Fellowships are available in the Natural Sciences, Social Sciences & Humanities, and Engineering. The Triple-I design of the GROW programme offers the PhD students the chance to equip themselves with an advanced, future-proof set of scientific and complementary skills that they will take with them as they pursue high-flying careers in a world that is becoming ever more complex and interconnected.
