About the Mastercard Foundation Arizona State University Scholarships
The Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), is offering fully funded graduate scholarships aimed at training 120 young African professionals at the master’s level over a five-year period (2025–2030). This initiative provides a unique opportunity for African youth to pursue advanced education in technology and innovation, preparing them to lead in the global digital economy.
For the 2025/2026 academic year, 30 scholarships will be awarded, offering full tuition coverage and comprehensive support for a traditional 2-year on-campus master’s program at ASU. These scholarships are part of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, which is designed to foster leadership, mentorship, and professional development.
The ASU Mastercard Foundation scholarships provide not only financial aid but also a fully immersive experience, including:
- Leadership training and individual mentorship.
- Part-time work opportunities on campus, such as with the Baobab Platform or within the ASU community.
- A two-month internship in Africa between the first and second years, aligned with the scholar’s field of study.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the ASU Mastercard Foundation scholarships, applicants must:
- Be citizens of an African country.
- Be between 18 and 33 years old by the application deadline.
- Hold an undergraduate degree by July 2025.

- Have a proven record of leadership and community service.
- Meet the academic admission requirements for their chosen degree program, including English language proficiency.
- Be able to reside in Phoenix, Arizona, for the full duration of the program.
- Not have started or completed any other graduate or master’s programs before August 2025.

How to Apply
The application process consists of two main steps:
