International Peace Institute (IPI)
New York, USA
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my keen interest in the Publications Internship position within the CPO team at the International Peace Institute. With a background in legal studies, extensive research and writing experience, and a strong commitment to peace, development, and global cooperation, I believe I would make a valuable contribution to IPI’s publications team.
I hold a Bachelor of Laws degree from the National Institute of Public Administration and am currently pursuing the Legal Practitioners Qualifying Examinations at ZIALE. My professional experiences particularly at the Administrator General’s office have involved meticulous legal drafting, research, and document management. I am comfortable working with complex texts, verifying citations, and maintaining high editorial standards. These experiences have developed my eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage publication timelines effectively.
I am proficient in Microsoft Office tools and possess excellent communication and writing skills, both critical to editorial and policy work. I am especially drawn to this internship for the opportunity it offers to work alongside professionals shaping policy on peace operations, sustainable development, and multilateral cooperation areas I am both academically and personally passionate about.
Although based in Lusaka, Zambia, I am fully equipped to work remotely and can adjust to IPI’s operating hours (EST). I am eager to learn from the CPO team, contribute meaningfully to your publications, and grow professionally in a dynamic and mission driven organization.
Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my background and aspirations align with IPI’s work.
Yours sincerely,
Mercy Mbalau
