TESIECS aims to develop environmental thought leaders and sustainability champions across Africa by facilitating cross-border academic mobility and capacity-building opportunities.
Eligible Fields
The TESIECS scholarships support different types of academic engagement, including:
1. Degree-Seeking Mobility Scholarships
Students enrolling in full-time MA, MSc, or PhD programs at a TESIECS partner university outside their home country are eligible for this scholarship. Coverage includes:
- Travel expenses (international airfare and local transport)
- Accommodation (living expenses for the duration of study)
- Subsistence allowance (daily living expenses)
- Tuition fees (if applicable)
- Research costs (for PhD students and thesis-based Master’s programs)
- Health and travel insurance
This program enables students to receive world-class education while equipping them with the knowledge to address pressing environmental and sustainability challenges.
2. Short-Term Credit-Seeking Mobility Scholarships
This option allows MA, MSc, and PhD students studying at their home university to take specific courses at a TESIECS partner institution. Earned credits will count toward their degree. Financial coverage includes:

- Tuition fees for enrolled modules

3. Staff Capacity Development Mobilities
TESIECS supports short-term mobility opportunities for academic, professional, and technical staff at partner institutions. Staff members can participate in collaborative activities lasting two to twelve weeks, covering:

This initiative enhances institutional capacity, promotes skills transfer, and fosters professional growth in environmental sustainability fields.
4. Traineeships and Internships
TESIECS also offers part-time job opportunities for registered students at any academic level. These internships provide hands-on experience and professional development in environmental science, policy, and sustainability.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the TESIECS Intra-Africa Mobility Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Postgraduate Students (MA, MSc, and PhD):
- Must meet the entry requirements of the host institution.
- Must be enrolled in a related program at their home university (for credit-seeking students).
- Must demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability and academic excellence.
- Staff Members:
- Must be permanent academic, administrative, or technical staff at an African institution.
