Introduction to the Leadership Programs for Young Southern Africans

The YALI Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa (RLC SA) is inviting applications for its Online Cohort 21 & Cohort 25 Program. Geared towards young African leaders aged 18-35, the program equips participants with essential skills, tools, and opportunities to make significant contributions to their communities and nations.

Through a combination of in-person and online training, the program covers Business and Entrepreneurship, Civic Leadership, Public Management, and sector-specific initiatives.

Participants engage in a dynamic learning environment designed to foster leadership development and promote sustainable change.

By nurturing the talents and capabilities of emerging leaders, the YALI RLC-SA aims to cultivate a new generation of visionary individuals capable of addressing the challenges facing Southern Africa and beyond.

Requirements for the Leadership Programs for Young Southern Africans

The program is available to young African leaders who meet the following criteria:-

Age (18-35)- Proficiency in the English language- Proficiency in Portuguese for our Portuguese language program-

A commitment to positively impact Africa, their countries, and communities.

– Commitment to serve the development agenda of the African continent.

– Demonstrated leadership capabilities and interest in Public Management, Entrepreneurship Development, and Civic Leadership.

Young leaders from the following countries are eligible to participate in the program: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Kingdom of Eswatini, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Call for Applications

Applications are currently being accepted for the YALI Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa (YALI RLC-SA) Online Cohort 21 & Cohort 25 Program, with a deadline of April 5, 2024.

This initiative targets young Southern Africans aged 18-35, aiming to equip them with essential skills, tools, and opportunities for more effective service to their communities and nations.

The YALI RLC-SA program encompasses both in-person and online training sessions covering Business and Entrepreneurship, Civic Leadership, Public Management, and specialized sector programs.

Requirements for the Leadership Programs for Young Southern Africans

The program invites young African leaders who fulfill the following requirements:- Aged between 18 and 35

– Proficiency in English or Portuguese (for the Portuguese language program)

– A commitment to make a positive impact on Africa, their countries, and communities

– Dedication to supporting the development goals of the African continent

– Demonstrated leadership abilities and interest in Public Management, Entrepreneurship Development, and Civic Leadership Eligible participants come from the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Kingdom of Eswatini, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The program encourages applications from:

– Young leaders from rural or economically disadvantaged backgrounds- Young leaders with disabilities

– Women- Individuals who are HIV positive or living with AIDS- Advocates for LGBTQIA+ rights and other minority groups

Benefits:

Participants receive 4-7 weeks of intensive online or in-person training in Business and Entrepreneurship, Civic Leadership, Public Management, Education, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). Additionally, they gain access to post-training opportunities such as Grant Funding, Networking, Collaboration, and Resources.
