- Applications for the 2024 Pierre Castel Prize are currently being accepted.
Organized by the Pierre Castel Fund and its partners, including Castel El Djazaïr, Brakina, Boissons du Cameroun, Solibra, Star, and Bracongo SA, the 7th edition of the PIERRE CASTEL PRIZE will take place from March 1 to July 10, 2024. This edition focuses on six African countries: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Eligibility Requirements
You qualify for participation if you meet the following criteria:
– You are an agricultural entrepreneur.
– Your age falls between 18 and 45 years old.
– You hold the nationality of one of the countries highlighted in this edition, and you currently reside there.
– Your business is legally established and has been operational for a minimum of one year.
– You possess a development project that demonstrates measurable social, economic, and environmental impacts within your ecosystem.
The 2024 Pierre Castel Prize honors 36 entrepreneurs, with 6 individuals selected from each country. The grants bestowed through this competition are designed to foster the expansion of the chosen enterprises and amplify their influence within value chains. Additionally, these awards seek to cultivate the entrepreneurial skills of recipients, foster the exchange of knowledge, and foster the formation of pan-African collaborations.
AWARDS
- 1st winners : €15,000, sponsorship and a coaching program
- 2nd winners : €10,000, a coaching program
- Finalists : Access to certified entrepreneurial e-learning training with the Geneva International Trade Center (ITC) and participation in the Young Hopes Prize – For sustainable agriculture and food
Timeline:
– March 1 to April 15: Open call for applications in Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Madagascar, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
– March 10 to April 15: Open call for applications in Ivory Coast.
– April 16 to 30: Review and selection process of 36 entrepreneurs (6 per country).
– May 2 to 14: Field visits.
– May 21 to 31: Auditions of candidates by local juries and selection of 12 winners (2 per country).
– June 3 to 14: Development of provisional plans for the use of endowment.
– June 21: Grand Jury.
– July 10: Pan-African awards ceremony in Algiers.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo:
– April 17 to 18: Review of applications and preselections.
– April 22 to May 5: Field visits.
– May 6: Selection of the 6 finalists.
– May 17: Local jury.
– May 27 to 31: Development of provisional plans for the use of endowment.
