  • Not be the beneficiary of a separate university scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
  • Be able to meet the financial obligations of a full fee-paying international student specified by the Australian Government. Evidence of this ability must be provided if requested by the university.

Benefits of the Program

The following are the benefits of the University of Newcastle International Excellence Scholarship:

  • The scholarship value varies based on the recipient’s region and ranges from AU$4,000 to AU$8,000 annually for a typical full-time study load (80 units) in an eligible program.
  • After four years of full-time study, the maximum amount would be AU$32,000.
  • The scholarship is awarded proportionately to each course taken during each term of study.
  • The recipient’s university student account will be immediately credited with tuition fee waivers as part of the program benefit.
  • As long as the program terms are met, this will lower the tuition fee obligation by the scholarship benefit amount for each term of the study plan. The number of units the recipient is enrolled in at the census date for each term will be used to determine the benefit amount. It is possible that the tuition fee waiver will not appear on the tuition fee account until after the census date. The recipient’s student account will receive a fee waiver following the census date.
