About the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship 2025

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan is currently accepting applications for the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship 2025. If you are an international professor, associate professor, assistant professor, post-doctoral researcher, doctoral candidate, or doctoral program student, then this opportunity is for you!

This is a prestigious and fully funded fellowship aimed at facilitating research within Taiwanese universities or academic institutions. The research should be focused on Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and Sinology (Chinese studies).

Since its inception, the fellowship has welcomed over 1,400 researchers from 93 countries. Successful applicants will receive coverage for round-trip airfare, a generous monthly stipend, and comprehensive accident and medical insurance. The duration of the fellowship can range from 3 to 12 months and will commence in January 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

The fellowship program is open to individuals holding the positions of Professors, Associate Professors, Research Fellows, Associate Research Fellows, Assistant Professors, Assistant Research Fellows, as well as Doctoral Candidates. The research conducted should have a focus on Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and Sinology.

  • Research proposal (3 pages with a standard research format)
  • Resume (including a list of publications)
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation (Or one recommendation letter and one letter of consent from the chief administrator of your institute).

How to Apply

After completing the online application form, applicants should print out a copy of the completed form. They are then required to send the printed application form and the necessary supporting documents to the Taiwan Embassy, Consulate, or Representative Office nearest their country of residence via postal mail.
