Introduction to the University of Glasgow African Excellence Scholarships
The University of Glasgow is offering scholarships for international students or staff from our partners in Africa and the Caribbean starting a postgraduate taught Masters program in any discipline for academic session 2022/23. The scholarship is a full tuition fee waiver. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and applicants should demonstrate a commitment to making a positive contribution to society. The scholarship is renewable for up to two years.
Details About the University of Glasgow African Excellence Scholarships
The University of Glasgow African excellence scholarships aim to support high-achieving students from across Africa in their journey to become Future World Changers. We are looking for students who wish to undertake Masters level study, to further develop their knowledge and skills, in order to contribute to their community in the future positively.
The Masters program provides an ideal platform to build upon existing knowledge and skills, as well as develop new ones. We have a strong emphasis on practical learning, with the chance to apply newly acquired knowledge to real-world problems. We also encourage students to think outside the box and use their creativity to innovate.
The University is offering up to 15 scholarships for International students from Africa, starting a 1 year postgraduate taught Masters programme, in any discipline for academic session 2024/25. The scholarship is a full tuition fee waiver.
Eligibility Criteria
The University of Glasgow African Excellence scholarships are open to applicants from Africa & the Caribbean applying to all on-campus Masters programmes.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- Demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to a UK 1st Class Honours;
- Hold an offer of a place for a postgraduate taught one-year Masters programme for the September 2024 intake (an offer is not needed to apply but applicants will require an offer to be considered for interview and should take programme application timelines into consideration as detailed on programme webpages);
- Have International fee status;
- Be domiciled in Africa;
- Be able to demonstrate a clear career and/or development plan that will be supported by Masters level study (via application form);
- Be able to provide evidence of meeting the UKVI maintenance/living costs by 30th June 2024 (only required if offered scholarship following successful interview).
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be automatically assessed for a scholarship based on academic merit. The duration of the scholarship is 1 year.
How to Apply for University of Glasgow African Excellence Scholarships
Applicants must complete an application form to be considered for the scholarship.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is the 31st of March 2024 – no applications after this date will be considered.
Applicants shortlisted for interviews will be contacted by 10 May 2024.
