Are you a recent graduate intrigued by international relations? Do you have a keen interest in understanding the inner workings of diplomatic missions and how the EU Delegation collaborates with the African Union to advocate for EU interests and values

We’re seeking individuals who possess a strong academic background and a passion for global affairs. As a part of the eu delegation team , you’ll have the chance to delve into the complexities of international diplomacy and contribute to meaningful partnerships between the European Union and the African Union.

Requirements for this position

Include a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, excellent communication skills, and a proactive attitude towards learning and problem-solving. Additionally, fluency in English and proficiency in other languages, particularly French, would be advantageous.

Qualifications or special requirements:

Applicants must reside in Ethiopia to be eligible.

 A Master’s degree in political science, international relations, economics, law, or related social studies is required, with a maximum of one year of work experience.

 Fluency in English is essential.

 Candidates should possess excellent analytical and drafting abilities, along with a profound understanding of and interest in African Union politics, economics, and governance.

A proactive, hands-on approach, reliability, openness to learning, and willingness to contribute ideas are valued attributes.

Main tasks:

The Political, Press, and Information: Policy & Cooperation Sections require support in various capacities:

Attendance at meetings and preparation of minutes, ensuring comprehensive documentation.

Contribution to crafting statements, speeches, and reports, with a focus on topics such as mobility, migration, youth, economic integration, and multilateral relations. Additionally, gathering relevant information is vital.

Engagement in preparatory work for significant events like the EU-AU Ministerial meetings.

Moreover, involvement in the EU Delegation’s communication and visibility efforts is necessary, including drafting press releases and project fiches, organizing events like soccer tournaments and seminars, and assisting with strategic communication tasks.

Research responsibilities entail delving into specific Political/Cooperation issues, summarizing key papers and meeting outcomes.

Benefits of the traineeship include

 A duration of up to 6 months within the EU Delegation’s Political and Policy and Cooperation Section starting in April 2024. Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant for living expenses, with all other costs like travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation to be covered by the trainee.
