The Embassy of France in Ghana invites applications for the 2026 edition of the France Excellence SSHN Scholarship. This prestigious program offers fully funded opportunities for Ghanaian researchers to undertake short-term scientific stays at higher education or research institutions in France.

As part of the broader France Excellence Scholarship Programme, the SSHN(Séjours Scientifiques de Haut Niveau) scholarship is designed to foster academic collaboration, encourage innovation, and deepen scientific relationships between Ghanaian researchers and their counterparts in France. Through this initiative, academic and research staff from Ghana can carry out short research projects, participate in seminars, collaborate on joint publications, and exchange knowledge within top-tier French institutions.

The SSHN mobility programme is aimed at boosting international cooperation, strengthening institutional ties, and promoting scientific excellence across all research domains. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the SSHN scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a tenure position in a public or private higher education institution or a recognized scientific research laboratory in Ghana.
  • Be either a PhD holder or currently enrolled as a PhD student.
  • Applicants who obtained their PhD more than five years ago are categorized as “confirmed researchers”, while those who earned their doctorate within the past five years are considered “young researchers.”
  • Applicants holding dual nationality that includes any European Union country are not eligible for this scholarship.

  • Relevance of the mobility to the applicant’s ongoing research and the priorities of both home and host institutions.

  • Demonstrated institutional support or co-funding arrangements will also be viewed favorably.
