About the AWIEF Nedbank Growth Accelerator Grant for South Africa 2024
In partnership with Nedbank, the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) calls for applications for the 2024 cohort of the AWIEF Growth Accelerator Grant for South Africa.
AWIEF Growth Accelerator, a flagship enterprise development program launched in 2017, provides growth strategy training, corporate advisory, mentoring, networks, and financing access to women-owned and women-led small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are in the early stages of growth and have high growth aspirations.
The 2024 AWIEF-Nedbank South Africa programme seeks to enhance the readiness of women to access funding opportunities and scale up their businesses in the agriculture and green economy sectors through the provision of tailored business development services, tools, mentoring, and skills development.
Eligible Fields
For the 2024 grant cohort, applications are invited from WSMEs operating in agribusiness, agro-processing, green energy, and climate-smart solutions. Technology-based and tech-enabled businesses are highly encouraged to apply.
Technology-based businesses are those that rely on technology to create or deliver products, services, and experiences to their customers. Tech-enabled businesses are those that use technology to improve existing processes. Both types of businesses are eligible to apply for grants.
Eligibility Criteria
For the 2024 grant cohort, the programme invites applications from WSMEs operating in agribusiness, agro-processing, green energy, and climate-smart solutions. Technology-based and tech-enabled businesses are highly encouraged to apply.
The businesses must meet certain criteria to be eligible for selection: they must be South African Exempt Micro Enterprises (EMEs) or Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs), at least 51% female, black-owned, operating in agriculture (agribusiness, agro-processing), green economy, and climate-smart solutions, and they must be in a post-revenue phase. Additionally, the businesses must be scalable and highly innovative ventures, must be in operation for a minimum of three years, and must be owned or led by ambitious and committed women entrepreneurs who are seeking investment or funding to scale.
