About the Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship

The Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship for Young Women (FBMSYW) is an initiative of the Opekete Foundation, established in memory of the late Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola—an advocate for education, empowerment, and service.

  • Must be female and Nigerian
  • Must have secured admission to or currently be enrolled in a public secondary school or university

  • Must be pursuing, or intending to pursue, a course in Nursing or Teaching in STEM fields

Academic Qualifications:

  • Secondary School Applicants must have at least 5 credits (As or Bs) in English, Mathematics, and three other relevant subjects in Junior WAEC
  • University Applicants must have a minimum of 5 As or Bs in English, Mathematics, and three other core subjects in WAEC/NECO

Specific Course Requirements:

  • Nursing applicants must have As or Bs in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry
  • Teaching (STEM) applicants must have As or Bs in English, Mathematics, and three STEM-related subjects

Performance Expectations:

  • University students must score at least the minimum JAMB cut-off for their institution and maintain a 3.5 GPA out of 5 throughout the program
  • Secondary school students must maintain a minimum average of 65% in all subjects to continue receiving support
