About the UNU Remote Internship 2025
This remote internship focuses on generative AI and its applications in education. The selected intern will contribute to UNU Macau’s AI and Sustainability book series with Springer Nature, conduct research, test AI tools, and help organize international conferences and webinars.

The institute conducts applied research, aiming for international, regional, and national policy impact. UNU Macau also nurtures the next generation of interdisciplinary computing, information, and social scientists, working on technology-driven solutions to global challenges.
Located in the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, UNU Macau is the only UN entity in Macau. It benefits from its proximity to major tech hubs in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), offering unparalleled access to technological innovation and global research networks.
Key Responsibilities for Selected Fellows
Under the supervision of the Director, the Research Fellow in Generative AI and Education will:
- Research generative AI and education.
- Draft literature reviews summarizing key research findings.
- Write blog posts in collaboration with experts.
- Test generative AI tools for education research.
- Assist in producing a book on Generative AI and Education for Springer Nature, including:
- Supporting the book proposal.
- Identifying key topics and contributors.
- Conducting in-depth research.
- Coordinating with authors and the publisher.
- Organize webinars on generative AI and education by:
- Identifying and inviting speakers.
- Preparing marketing materials.
- Writing post-webinar blog summaries.
- Identify relevant academic conferences for research presentations.
- Seek research grants and funding opportunities.
- Develop research proposals in collaboration with partners.
- Prepare a panel session for the 2025 UNU Macau AI Conference.
- Support the UNU Macau team in organizing the AI conference.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibility Criteria
Education Requirements
- University studies in educational technology, education, communications, computer science, AI, digital media, law, business, social sciences, or related fields.
- A strong research background is required.
- Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master’s or PhD) or have graduated within the last two years.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and design software.
- Experience with prompt engineering and generative AI tools is an advantage.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
