Are you passionate about wildlife ecology? The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is offering a fully funded MS research assistantship focused on elk survival and conservation research.
About the University of Nevada Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship is a Master’s research assistantship in wildlife ecology, investigating the spring mortality of elk in northern Nevada. The research, in collaboration with the Nevada Department of Wildlife, aims to examine factors such as:
Trace mineral deficiencies
Novel diseases
Space use and landscape factors
The selected student will join the Nevada Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit (NVCFWRU) and pursue a Master’s degree in:
Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences or
Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology
The graduate assistant will conduct fieldwork, write a thesis, and publish a peer-reviewed journal article.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in ecology, wildlife biology, or a related field
Have field research experience and skills in statistical analysis (preferably R)
Be motivated for research and academic work
Possess strong oral and written communication skills
Be able to work collaboratively in a research setting
Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply
No restrictions on nationality – Open to all international students!

Academic qualifications and research interests
Experience in fieldwork and statistical analysis
Ability to work in a team
Strong communication skills
