The University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship 2026 is a fully funded Masters scholarship at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana.

The University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship is the official call for Master Scholarship Applications 2026 at West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana Master of Philosophy in Seed Science and Technology.

The University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship 2026 offers fully funded Master’s scholarships at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana.

Benefits of the University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship 2026

The scholarship offers comprehensive financial and academic support, including:

  • Full tuition fees (covered annually)
  • Annual study and research allowance: €460
  • Printing allowance: One-time payment at the end of the program

Monthly stipend (for living costs such as accommodation and food):

  • €500 (PhD In-Country)
  • €550 (PhD In-Region)
  • Travel allowance: (In-Region only) – awarded twice (beginning and end of scholarship)
  • Health insurance: (In-Region only)

In addition, DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholarship holders enrolled in research-based Master’s programs are encouraged to apply for a short-term research visit to Germany for 3 to 6 months, further enhancing their academic and research experience

Available Courses

University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship 2026 Eligibility Requirements 

Applicants for WACCI Masters Plant Breeding Scholarships:

  • Graduates with a first academic degree, who have successfully completed a three-year university degree with above average results (at least: Second Class/Upper Division or equivalent, if applicable).
  • Candidates who cannot provide a Second Class/Upper Division or a higher result are non-applicable.
  • Clearly show motivation and strong commitment.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the language of instruction.
  • They generally completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application.
  • Must be nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African country.

Should generally be;

  • staff member of a public university
  • or a candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment
  • or from the public sector and/or d) Alumni of the DAFI-programme.

Female applicants, refugees with recognized refugee status and candidates from other less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the programme.

Please note: If you have already received a Master’s scholarship from the DAAD, further Master’s funding from the DAAD is not possible.

How to Apply for the University of DAAD Ghana Scholarship 2026

  • As a first step, must submit a complete application for the programme via the DAAD Portal.
  • Register on the portal
  • Log in to the portal
  • Carefully read the instructions on how to apply in the portal
  • Submit your application via the portal by 21st November 2024.
  • Remember to check that your application is complete and meets the University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship requirements before submitting! Otherwise, your application cannot be considered.
  • The DAAD will conduct a formal review of the applications received via the DAAD
    portal only, according to the University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship criteria.

Please be aware of the DAAD’s application deadline as well as the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement’s (WACCI) deadline.
