University College London (UCL) is offering a fully funded Master’s scholarship for displaced individuals or those facing severe threats due to armed conflict. The UCL Humanitarian Scholarship 2025 covers tuition, living expenses, visa fees, and travel costs, providing a lifeline for students seeking academic and professional advancement in a safe and supportive environment.

The UCL Humanitarian Scholarship is designed for students who have been displaced due to armed conflict or who are at serious risk in their home countries. This prestigious scholarship supports full-time Master’s students by removing financial barriers to higher education.

Eligible Fields

The scholarship is available for all full-time postgraduate taught Master’s programs at UCL.
Note: Part-time and distance learning programs are not eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Be displaced or at serious risk due to armed conflict.
  • Have left their home country within the last three years and sought international protection outside the UK.
  • Qualify for the Overseas fee rate.
  • Come from a lower-income background, as defined by UCL.
  • Not hold a Master’s-level qualification or higher.
  • Have received an offer for a full-time Master’s program at UCL by early June 2025.

Selection Process

  • Financial need assessment.
  • Evaluation by the UCL Humanitarian Scholarship Panel.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be required to submit additional documents, such as proof of refugee status or humanitarian protection.

Eligible Countries

  • Applicants from all countries outside the UK can apply.
  • Applications are not accepted from individuals already residing in the UK.

Benefits of the University College London £20,000 Humanitarian Scholarship

The UCL Humanitarian Scholarship covers:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • A maintenance allowance of approximately £20,000 for living and accommodation costs.
  • Additional allowances for:
    • Visa application fees.
    • Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).
    • One return flight to and from the UK.

How to Apply

Deadline: 5 PM BST, Thursday, 8 May 2025

  1. Apply for Admission:
    • Submit an application for a full-time Master’s program at UCL.
    • Ensure all required documents (including references) are provided.
    • Your fee status should be confirmed before applying for the scholarship.
  2. Access UCL’s Application Portal (Portico):
    • Log in to Portico, UCL’s official student portal.
    • Go to the “Funding” section under your active application.
  3. Complete the Scholarship Application:
    • Check the available scholarships.
    • Select UCL Humanitarian Scholarship.
    • Fill out the required details and upload necessary documents.
  4. Submit Before the Deadline:
    • Ensure your application is submitted by 8 May 2025.
