About the UNIDIR Women in AI Fellowship

The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) is inviting applications for the 2025 Women in AI Fellowship, a unique initiative designed to empower women diplomats in shaping inclusive AI policies that promote international peace and security. This prestigious fellowship focuses on addressing gender inequalities in international security forums while advancing expertise in AI governance and its security implications.

The Women in AI Fellowship is a capacity-building program aimed at equipping women diplomats with the tools, knowledge, and networks necessary to actively participate in multilateral discussions surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) and its intersection with global security. Organized by UNIDIR, the fellowship delivers in-depth training on AI’s technical, legal, and policy dimensions while emphasizing its gendered implications and security applications. Fellows will explore key issues, such as the governance of military AI, ethical considerations, and the role of inclusivity in policymaking.

The program also fosters collaboration, allowing participants to engage with academics, technical experts, and policymakers.
