Please note that individuals who have completed a full-time bachelor’s degree but are not currently enrolled in a graduate programme are ineligible.

Specialized Assignments:

Candidates applying for secretarial/assistant or technical/professional roles must be enrolled in a relevant institution or have recently graduated from such programs within the past 12 months.

Language Proficiency:

Proficiency in either English or French, both written and spoken, is essential. Additionally, a working knowledge of the second language is advantageous, especially for roles in secretarial and assistantship assignments at the Headquarters.

Computer Skills: Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in office-related software and systems, is a prerequisite for all applicants.

Internship Requirements and Program Details

Team Collaboration and Adaptability:

Candidates must demonstrate strong teamwork abilities and the capacity to thrive in an international professional setting.

Effective Communication: Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills is essential.

Program Duration: The internship period ranges from one to six months.

Visa Responsibility: Interns are accountable for securing any requisite visas.

Travel Arrangements: Interns are responsible for organizing and funding their travel to the internship location.

Health Coverage: Proof of comprehensive health insurance valid in the internship country for the entire duration is mandatory. UNESCO offers limited workplace accident insurance.

Medical Certification: Prior to commencing the internship, a medical certificate confirming fitness to work is required. Detailed medical records, such as test results, are not necessary.

Supporting Documentation: Interns must provide identification, enrollment certificates, or diplomas (for recent graduates) before starting the internship.

Leave Entitlement: Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during their internship tenure. Candidates must meet these criteria and adhere to program guidelines for a successful internship experience.

Application Procedure: Before proceeding with the application form, ensure that you have prepared your motivation letter and résumé. The completion of the entire application process must be within one hour. It is imperative that your contact details remain valid for the next six months.

Applicants are required to use either English or French for the application process. If your documents are not in either of these languages, please provide an unofficial translation in either English or French.Please note that internships at UNESCO are unpaid. There is no financial or other form of compensation provided for internship assignments.

Although meeting the eligibility criteria, placement is not guaranteed due to the high volume of applications received. We receive numerous applications from qualified candidates, exceeding the available placements.Once submitted, your application will undergo further evaluation by UNESCO managers worldwide and will remain accessible in our internship portal for a duration of six months.
