About the University Of Bonn BIGS-DR Doctoral Scholarship Program
Applications are now open for the University of Bonn’s BIGS-DR doctoral scholarship program for the 2024–2025 academic year. The Bonn International Graduate School for Development Research (BIGS-DR) operates as the doctoral program at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) and is a key component of the University of Bonn’s esteemed international graduate programs. These programs form a robust academic framework, dedicated to upholding the highest standards of excellence and research integrity.
Prospective students can pursue two main funding avenues for their studies. The first option is to apply for the BIGS-DR internal scholarship. This scholarship is made available through the Development-Related Postgraduate Course program (EPOS), which is managed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Citizens of developing countries or emerging economies are encouraged to apply directly for the DAAD EPOS program through ZEF. This program provides a comprehensive package, including a monthly stipend, coverage for living expenses, study fees, health insurance, travel expenses, and German language courses for the entire 24-month duration of the course. The program is open to students from all academic backgrounds, and the selection process takes into account academic achievements and requires a compelling letter of motivation. This presents a valuable opportunity for students seeking to advance their education and research skills in a prestigious international setting.
