Every year the Nelson Mandela Washington fellowship programme welcomes fellows for two set of fellows for two of the organization’s fellowship programmes. Application is now open for the Nelson Mandela Washington IREX Readers fellowship for the year 2023
The United State department of State in partnership with the IREX will be welcoming the academicians, professionals, and fields experts to the read and score applications for the Nelson Mandela Washington 2023 Fellowship.
The IREX and Nelson Mandela fellowship programme have successful recorded about eight years of the beginning of the Fellowship, and the Nelson Mandela Washington fellowship programme has total received close to 300,000 applications from professionals, academicians and experts from African countries unfortunately few number of up to 5,800 Fellows were successful. Because of this exposure we advise interested fellows to leverage their talents.
Fellows’ Responsibilities and Reading Period for the Nelson Mandela Washington IREX Readers fellowship, 2023
Readers will take responsibility for evaluating programmes applications based on set guidelines and a scoring rubric. This is a great volunteer professional development and career building opportunity for professionals or individuals.
This year’s reading commencement date is on the14th of September, 2022, the reader fellowship will be up to three separate reading phases, each of the phase will last for a total of two weeks, starting from the 14th of September through to November.
Successfully picked fellow readers will be assigned to one of the reading phases to review up to 40 applications. Each of the applications takes from 10-15 minutes to read and score.

Fellow readers must have experience working in Africa, or must have experience working in African.
Employees of the United State government and alumni of the Nelson Mandela Washington IREX Readers fellowship are eligible to apply to be a reader
Every race, colour, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity is qualified to apply.
Fellow should be from the age of 25 to 35 at the time of application
