  • Academic Achievement: Eligible students are those who have demonstrated strong academic performance. The scholarship awards are based on the applicant’s Grade Point Average (GPA) at the time of application, with amounts ranging from $11,000 to $14,300 per year.
  • Renewability: The scholarship is renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) of study, provided the student meets the renewal criteria outlined by the university.

To continue receiving the International Ambassador Scholarship, recipients must adhere to specific academic and behavioral standards throughout their undergraduate program:

  • GPA Requirement: Scholarship recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 at the end of each spring semester. This ensures that students remain in good academic standing and continue to excel in their studies.
  • Full-Time Enrollment: Students must be enrolled in a continuous, regular full-time undergraduate program, taking at least 12 credits or more each semester. This is to ensure that recipients are fully engaged in their academic pursuits.
  • Behavioral Standards: Recipients are also expected to maintain acceptable social behavior in accordance with the university’s code of conduct. This includes adhering to university policies and contributing positively to the campus community.

How to Apply Michigan Tech International Scholarships

The application process for the Michigan Tech International Ambassador Scholarships is straightforward and integrated into the general admissions process. To apply for the scholarship, follow these steps:

1. Complete Your Common Application:

  • Start by completing the Common Application, which is used by many universities in the United States, including Michigan Tech. 
  • Pay the one-time $35 application processing fee. This fee is necessary to process your application.

2. Create an Application Portal User Account:

  • During the application process, you will be prompted to create an Application Portal user account. 
  • This portal will allow you to track the status of your application, view any required documents, and receive updates from the admissions office.

3. Submit Official Secondary School Transcripts:

  • Arrange for your official secondary school (high school) transcripts or attested mark sheets to be sent directly to Michigan Tech’s Office of Admissions. These documents must be sent directly from your school to the university and should not be sent by you personally.
  • The transcripts should include your most recent three years of grades. If you have attended multiple schools within this period, ensure that each school sends official transcripts.
  • If the transcripts are not in English, they must be accompanied by certified English translations.

4. Submit English Proficiency Test Scores:

  • If English is not your first language, you must submit an English proficiency test score. This requirement may be waived depending on your country of origin or prior study in the United States.
  • Review the English proficiency page on Michigan Tech’s website for a list of exempt countries and the specific test score requirements.

5. Country-Specific Additional Requirements:

  • India: Applicants from India are required to submit CBSE secondary school examination results.
  • Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The Gambia: Applicants must submit WAEC or NECO examination results along with the corresponding scratch card information.
  • Caribbean Countries: Applicants from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos must submit Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and/or Caribbean Secondary Education Certification (CSEC or CXC) results.
  • Cambridge Curriculum Students: Students enrolled in Cambridge curriculum schools must provide official GCSE or IGCSE examination results and official AS-level results or predicted A-level marks.

6. Submit All Application Documents by October 15, 2024:

All required application documents must be submitted by October 15, 2024. This deadline ensures that your application will be considered for admission and scholarship opportunities.

7. Post-Acceptance I-20 Documents:

  •  If accepted, international undergraduate students who meet the F-1 visa post-acceptance requirements will be issued an I-20 form, which is necessary for visa application.
  • All I-20 documents must be submitted by November 1, 2024. No I-20 forms will be issued after November 15, 2024.
