Administered by the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (ASTAR), this award enables students to participate in cutting-edge scientific projects under the guidance of top-tier researchers. The program spans a duration of two to six months, during which students will contribute to real-world research initiatives at ASTAR Institutes.

Eligible Fields of Study

Students can apply for research projects in the following fields:

  • Biomedical Sciences (BMS) – Explore areas such as genetics, immunology, and drug discovery.
  • Physical Sciences (PS) – Engage in fields like quantum physics, materials science, and nanotechnology.
  • Computing and Information Sciences (CIT) – Work on projects involving artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and big data analytics.
  • Engineering and Technology (E&T) – Gain experience in robotics, sustainable energy, and advanced manufacturing.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for SIPGA, applicants must:

  • Be international students in their third or fourth year of undergraduate studies or pursuing a master’s degree at an overseas university.
  • Be enrolled in a STEM-related discipline.
  • Have obtained or be on track to achieve at least a Second-Class (Upper) Honours or equivalent.
  • Remain matriculated at their home university throughout the research attachment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Exhibit a strong interest in a research career.

Selection Criteria

The selection process is rigorous and merit-based. Shortlisted candidates will undergo:

  1. Online Interview: Candidates will be interviewed by A*STAR researchers.
  2. Nomination Process: Applicants recommended by A*STAR researchers will proceed to the final selection phase.
  3. Final Award Decision: Awards will be granted based on research potential and academic merit.
