About the OWSD Women in Science Displacement Outreach Master’s Program

The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) is introducing a pioneering fellowship program called WISDOM 2025, specifically designed for displaced women scientists. Generously funded by Sida and with support from UNHCR, OWSD aims to launch a Masters Scholarship Program to assist displaced and refugee women who are keen on pursuing a Master of Science in STEM fields, particularly in countries like Jordan. 

The OWSD Masters Scholarship initiative is set to offer approximately 25 comprehensive scholarship packages to women, enabling them to engage in up to 24 months of intensive study. Moreover, this project will concentrate on capacity building, partnering with select institutions to establish gender-sensitive policies and raising awareness of the specific protection needs of these women..

Eligibility Criteria

Scholarships for refugee women seeking master’s degrees in the natural, engineering, information, and technology sciences (STEM fields) are available through the OWSD WISDOM program.

Candidates must:

  • Be a holder of valid International Protection Applicant ID, International Protection Status holder ID or Temporary Protection ID issued by the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management (PDMMs)
  • hold a bachelor’s degree from a research centre, an educational institution, or both (including international research centres).
  • be in Turkey when submitting an application.

How to Apply

To apply, you need to follow these steps:

1) Submit your application to Istanbul Aydin University (IAU) before August 8, 2024.

2) After submission, a panel of experts from IAU and OWSD will review the applications. Based on this review, candidates will either be selected directly or invited for an interview conducted by a Selection Committee. The Committee will assess the interview performance and application materials to recommend the top candidates for scholarship awards.

3) The successful candidates will be notified of the results by September.
