About the Scholarship

The ICARUS Climate Research Centre at Maynooth University invites applications for its prestigious PhD Scholarship 2025. This scholarship, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), offers aspiring researchers a chance to explore the human impacts on Ireland’s climatic extremes.

The scholarship is part of a multi-year research project (2025–2029) focusing on event attribution for Ireland’s climate. Using methodologies from the World Weather Attribution (WWA) group, the project will analyze significant climatic extremes from the past decade to assess how human-induced climate change has influenced these events.

The successful applicant will collaborate with leading experts, including Prof. Peter Thorne, ICARUS colleagues, and the WWA group at Imperial College London. Additionally, they will participate in community engagement and outreach initiatives.
