Financial support
The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship provides comprehensive funding to cover essential expenses related to your academic journey. It encompasses tuition fees for either a one-year Honours degree or a two-year Masters degree in any discipline offered at a recognized South African higher education institution. This funding extends to cover various aspects such as tuition fees, registration fees, allowances for study materials, research endeavors, medical expenses, accommodation, meals, personal allowances, and economy class travel to and from your home country to your designated South African university at the commencement and conclusion of your degree program. Additionally, a personal allowance is provided to support your needs.
The Leadership Development Program offered alongside the scholarship is constructed upon the foundational pillars of reconciliation, education, entrepreneurship, and leadership. It operates under the belief that authentic leadership stems from internal transformation. The Mandela Rhodes Foundation (MRF) is committed to preserving Nelson Mandela’s legacy by empowering young African leaders with the skills and courage necessary to facilitate continental transformation, ensuring equal opportunities for all. The program primarily unfolds through a series of week-long residential workshops, integral to your residency experience during the scholarship tenure.
