About the Manaaki New Zealand Government Scholarships 2024
The applications are open for the Manaaki New Zealand Government Scholarships 2024. The scholarship is entirely funded by the New Zealand government. For overseas tertiary students, a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship will transform and enhance their lives. Candidates may submit applications for the Ph.D., graduate, undergraduate, and diploma programs. The scholarships pay for living expenses, travel expenses, health insurance, monthly stipends, and tuition. The Manaaki New Zealand scholarship has a complicated application procedure.
You are not required to submit English language tests, academic records or transcripts, a student visa, a PhD supervisor, or a Letter of Place from a university or other educational institution in order to apply for the scholarship. Selected applicants in 2024 will enter New Zealand to commence study from Semester 1, 2025

- Undergraduate Degree (3–4 years)
- Postgraduate Certificate (6 months)
- Postgraduate Diploma (1 year)
- Master’s Degree (1-2 years)
- PhD (3.5 years)
Benefits of the Scholarships
Scholars come to New Zealand for a world-class education. The Manaaki NZ Scholarships will cover:
- Full tuition fees are covered.
- The living allowance will be given
- Living expenses, accommodation, meals, and a stipend will be given.
- Establishment allowance
- Round-trip airfare and travel costs
- Medical and travel insurance are covered.

Manaaki, New Zealand Scholarships are available to citizens from the following eligible countries:.
Pacific Countries: Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji (postgraduate only), Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age Requirements: You must be 18 years old when you start your scholarship in New Zealand. If you are 17, you must have your 18th birthday before starting your scholarship in semester one. The maximum age limit is 40 years.
- Work experience requirements: Work experience can be paid, unpaid, or voluntary.
- One year of full-time work experience (i.e. 30 hours or more per week),
- Two years of part-time work experience (i.e., up to 29 hours per week).
- English Language Requirements for Successful Applicants: Only shortlisted applicants need English language test scores
- IELTS: 6.0 and no band less than 5.5
- TOEFL 80 on the internet-based test with a writing score of 21.
- PTE Academic score of 50, with no communication skills, a score of less than 42.
- Cambridge Academic English (advanced): 169 with no bands less than 162.
- The Manaaki NZ Scholarship will cover the cost of the language test and arrange the test for the applicants from:
- Cambodia
- Indonesia
- Federated States of Micronesia
- Fiji
- Kiribati
- Lao PDR
- Marshall Islands
- Nauru
- Palau
- Papua New Guinea
- Samoa (except Samoa Foundation applicants)
- Solomon Islands
- Timor-Leste
- Tonga
- Tuvalu
- Vanuatu.
Documents not Required
You don’t need to provide these things with your application form:
- verified copies of your academic records or transcripts for completed qualifications
- English language test scores
- Verified copies of your birth certificate, passport, and government ID
- A student visa
- A Letter of placement from a university or educational institution
- Confirmation of a PhD supervisor (PhD scholarship applicants).
How to Apply
The 2024 tertiary Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships portal will open on February 1 and close on February 29, 2024. There will be no acceptance of late applications.
