About the Google DeepMind Scholarship 2024 at the University Of Birmingham
The University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Google DeepMind Scholarship. This prestigious opportunity is aimed at students who have a strong passion for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning.
This program is, generously funded by DeepMind, offers two scholarships for individuals who currently hold either a conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program at the University of Birmingham’s Edgbaston campus.
These scholarships are designed to provide talented students with the necessary support to pursue their aspirations in some of the most cutting-edge and in-demand fields within both industry and research.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants wishing to apply for the scholarship should meet the following criteria:
- Identify as a woman.
- Be prepared to prove, if necessary, that they would need financial aid in order to accept the admissions offer.
Applicants must also:
- Have already been offered a spot on the University of Birmingham’s MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program, either unconditionally or conditionally
- Either be considered an international student for fee-paying purposes OR be considered a resident of the UK for the majority of the time and be classified as such.
Applications will be shortlisted based on the aforementioned eligibility categories and provided with any additional supporting documentation and evidence (if required) after being reviewed by a selection panel at the School of Computer Science.
Until all academic offer conditions are satisfied, such as submitting satisfactory academic results and meeting other requirements, the DeepMind scholarship offer may be considered “conditional.” Please be aware that there might be a matching deadline for meeting the requirements for academic credit.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be shortlisted based on the aforementioned eligibility categories and provided with any additional supporting documentation and evidence (if required) after being reviewed by a selection panel at the School of Computer Science.
Benefits of the University Of Birmingham Google DeepMind Scholarships 2024
The UK scholarship available is valued at £34,225. The value of the program is applied against:
- UK tuition fees – £11,340
- A maintenance grant of £18,985 (to use for living costs), paid in instalments over the duration of the course
- Funding of up to £2,200 to attend an international conference in the field of AI and/or Machine Learning during the course
- £1,700 towards the purchase of essential equipment (suitable laptop, etc.)
The International scholarship is valued at £56,525. The value of the program is applied against:
- International tuition fees – £31,410
- A maintenance grant of £19,345 (to use for living costs), paid in instalments over the duration of the course
- Funding of up to £2,200 to attend an international conference in the field of AI and/or Machine Learning during the course as well
- £1,700 towards the purchase of essential equipment (suitable laptop, etc.).
- £1,870 to assist with relocation expenses

How to Apply
The application process is open to both international and UK applicants, but they can only apply if they are offer holders for the program. After receiving an offer, applicants will receive an email with a direct application link for the DeepMind scholarship. The final application deadline is August 18, 2024.
