About the Global Health Corps Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship

The Global Health Corps (GHC) Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship 2025/2026 is an empowering opportunity for emerging public health professionals across Sub-Saharan Africa. Designed to unlock the potential of the next generation of leaders, this 9-month hybrid program targets individuals who are passionate about health equity and committed to advancing their leadership journey.

Launched by Global Health Corps, an organization with a decade-long legacy of cultivating health equity leaders, this fellowship is uniquely crafted for early to mid-career professionals between the ages of 21 and 35. Participants will benefit from immersive training that spans leadership development, project-based learning, mentorship, and personalized coaching—all at no cost to the fellow. Whether you’re working in government, NGOs, academic institutions, or the private health sector, the program promises to deepen your influence and effectiveness in the ever-evolving public health space.

At its heart, the fellowship offers more than just skills development—it’s a call to join a transformative movement. Upon completion, fellows become part of a lifelong global network of over 1,200 GHC alumni, opening doors to continued learning, networking, and collaborative leadership for years to come.

Eligible Fields

The fellowship is open to public health professionals working in non-clinical roles across a wide range of sectors. These include:

National and local health ministries or state health departments
Governmental health agencies

Academic and research institutions
Community-based organizations and NGOs
Private sector institutions engaged in public health work

Given the broad nature of public health, GHC encourages applicants from diverse professional backgrounds who are united by a commitment to health equity.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Global Health Corps Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship, applicants must meet the following conditions:

Be between the ages of 21 and 35 by September 1, 2025.

Be a citizen of one of the following countries: Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia.
Be employed full-time in a non-clinical public health role for at least six months at the time of application.
Be working for a public health organization operating within Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia.

Provide written confirmation from their employer supporting their participation in the fellowship.

There are no academic or formal training prerequisites, making the program accessible to a wider pool of passionate public health advocates.

Selection Criteria

Fellows will be selected based on:

Demonstrated commitment to public health and leadership development.
Alignment with GHC’s mission of promoting health equity across Africa.
The potential for personal and professional growth through the program.

The readiness and ability to fully participate in the nine-month hybrid fellowship.

GHC places high value on diversity of thought, experience, and background, and aims to select individuals who bring unique perspectives to their cohort.

Eligible Countries

Only citizens of the following Sub-Saharan African countries are eligible to apply:

Malawi
Rwanda
Uganda

Zambia

Applicants must also be currently employed in one of these countries by a recognized public health organization.

Required Documents

Applicants must provide the following materials when applying:

Proof of full-time employment in a non-clinical public health role
A letter or statement of support from their current employer, confirming permission to participate in all required fellowship activities
