About the University of Geneva Excellence Masters Fellowships
The University of Geneva Faculty of Science invites exceptional students from around the world to apply for the Excellence Masters Fellowships, offering financial support to pursue a Master of Science in a variety of scientific disciplines.
The Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva is a globally recognized institution renowned for its research excellence across diverse disciplines such as Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Physics.
This fellowship program, supported by sponsors and the Faculty of Science, is designed to attract high-performing students eager to develop academic and professional careers in science.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the University of Geneva Excellence Masters Fellowship, applicants must:
- Be a graduate or final-year student of a Bachelor’s degree program, expecting to complete the degree within six months of application.
- Belong to the top 10% of their Bachelor’s program academically.
- Demonstrate academic excellence through submitted documentation.
- Note: Proficiency in French is not mandatory for admission into Faculty of Science Master’s programs.
Benefits of the University of Geneva Excellence Masters Fellowships
- Financial support ranges from CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year.
- No teaching duties are required.
- Fellowship duration:
- One year, renewable for up to the full duration of the chosen Master’s program (three to four semesters), subject to academic success.
Required Documents
Applications must be submitted as a SINGLE PDF file and include:
- A scan of your national identity card or passport.
- Proof of matriculation at UNIGE (University of Geneva):
- If you are not yet enrolled, include the email confirmation of your matriculation process from the university administration.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) (maximum 2 pages).
- Academic transcripts, showing all grades obtained during your Bachelor’s degree.
- A motivation letter, outlining your scientific interests and reasons for pursuing a Master of Science at the University of Geneva.
- Two letters of reference from professors attesting to your academic aptitude (preferably sent directly to: Excellence-Master-Sciences@unige.ch).
- Additional relevant documents (e.g., GRE scores, TOEFL results, or other certifications).

- The deadline to apply is February 28, 2025, for Master’s programs starting on September 15, 2025.
