About Erasmus Mundus EMAI Scholarship

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Artificial Intelligence (EMAI) aims to attract talents worldwide, paying attention to academic excellence as well as aspects of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

One of the EMAI’s key missions is to enhance the level of internationalisation of its partner institutions.

This 2-year master’s degree program is offered by a consortium of four leading European universities:

  • Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona
  • Sapienza University of Rome in Rome (Italy)
  • Radboud University in Nijmegen (The Netherlands)
  • University of Ljubljana in Ljubljana (Slovenia)

Summary of the 2026/28 Erasmus Mundus EMAI Scholarship

  • Type: Masters Scholarship
  • Countries to study: Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Slovenia
  • Duration: 2 Years

Program Structure 

During the first year, students will have the opportunity to study in three different countries. In their second year, they can choose where they would like to conduct their Master’s thesis research.

  • 1st Semester: Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona
  • 2nd Semester: Choose from:
    • Sapienza University of Rome in Rome (Italy)
    • Radboud University in Nijmegen (The Netherlands)
    • University of Ljubljana in Ljubljana (Slovenia)
  • 3rd and 4th Semesters (Specialisation) can be completed in any of the Four Universities.

Eligibility Criteria for the 2026/28 Erasmus Mundus EMAI Scholarship

  • The Erasmus Mundus EMAI program is open to all Nationals.
  • EMAI accepts students with a strong background in computer science, software engineering, and applied mathematics.
  • Students with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or Physics, are encouraged to apply.
  • Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Final-year students of an Undergraduate program can also apply.
