
About DAAD AgEcon Scholarship 2026
The AgEcon Scholarships are provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under its special initiative “Development-Related Postgraduate Courses” (EPOS).
Through the EPOS scholarships, the DAAD supports excellent candidates from developing countries who have a strong academic and professional background.
DAAD AgEcon Scholarship 2026 recipients typically have work experience in a public authority, state institution and/or a private company in a developing country, and therefore they will have been engaged in the planning and execution of directives and projects with an emphasis on development policies relating to technology, economics and/or social impact.

Eligibility Criterias for the DAAD AgEcon Scholarship 2026
- Citizen of a developing country
- Minimum 2 years professional experience post Bachelor’s, prior to the date of applying
Note that employment in academia, like teaching and research at a university or research institute, is not considered relevant work experience for this initiative; only in very exceptional cases can it be accepted.

DAAD AgEcon Scholarship 2026 applicants must also fulfill the basic requirements for the Master’s program:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related subject with above-average results
- Official proof English proficiency as detailed in the admission regulations (see below) e.g. IELTS academic (overall Band 6.5), TOEFL ibt (90).
Benefits of the DAAD AgEcon Scholarship 2026
- DAAD University of Hohenheim AgEcon Scholarship recipients will have their tuition fees waived for the 2 years of the Agricultural Economics Master’s program, and they will receive health insurance, a monthly living stipend, travel costs to Germany and back as well as for research (see EPOS webpage for details and extras).
- Depending on academic level, monthly payments of 992 euros for graduates or 1,300 euros (1,400 euros beginning with February 2026) for doctoral candidates
- Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover
- Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding
Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:
- Monthly rent subsidy
- Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family
Application Documents for the DAAD AgEcon Scholarship 2026
- Application Form
- DAAD Application Form, signed and dated
- Up-to-date CV (europass), in reverse chronological order, with date of issue and without any gaps
- Motivation Letter (max 2 pages), with date of issue
- Employer Recommendation from current employer
- Certificate(s) of Employment from employer(s) that prove you are currently employed
- Proof of English proficiency, as described in the admission requirements
- Diploma & Transcript of Records copies in original form, with certified translations into English or German (if issued in another language)
- University Entrance Qualification (UEQ) (secondary school leaving certificate) copies in original form, with certified translations into English or German (if issued in another language).
Method of Application
- Apply for admission to the AgEcon program at the University of Hohenheim
- The University of Hohenheim uses the HohCampus portal for applications. Scholarship applications, submitted by email, can only be considered if there is a corresponding application on HohCampus.
- Proceed to apply for the 2026 DAAD Scholarship. DAAD EPOS scholarship application documents must be emailed to: agecon@uni-hohenheim.de.
