About Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2026

Applications are now open for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2026/2027 — a prestigious opportunity for talented students from eligible Commonwealth countries to pursue fully funded Master’s degree programs in the United Kingdom starting in September/October 2026.

Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2026 is part of the agency-nominated Master’s programme, one of the three Master’s awards offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC).

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) administers the UK government’s international scholarship program, guided by global development objectives.

Operating under the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), it highlights the UK’s long-standing commitment to the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2026 seeks to attract exceptional individuals from diverse backgrounds who have the potential to become transformative leaders and innovators in their home countries.

By investing in their education, the CSC not only contributes to sustainable development but also fosters international partnerships and collaboration aligned with the UK’s global vision.

Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the 2026/2027 Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of, or have been granted refugee status by, an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be available to begin academic studies in the UK by September 2026.
  • By that date, hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard, or a lower second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).
  • Demonstrate financial need and be unable to afford studies in the UK without this scholarship.
  • Submit all supporting documents in the required format before the application deadline.

Eligible Commonwealth Countries

Applicants must be from one of the following eligible countries:
Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji*, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada*, Guyana*, India, Jamaica*, Kenya, Kiribati*, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives*, Mauritius*, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru*, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea*, Rwanda, Saint Helena, Saint Lucia*, Saint Vincent and The Grenadines*, Samoa*, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands*, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga*, Tuvalu*, Uganda, Vanuatu*, Zambia.**

Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2026 Benefits

Each Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship covers:

  • Full tuition fees, agreed upon between CSC and the host UK university.
  • Airfare from the scholar’s home country to the UK and back after the award period.

Monthly stipend (living allowance):

  • £1,452 per month outside London
  • £1,781 per month for universities in the London metropolitan area

Warm clothing allowance, if applicable.

  • Study travel grant to support study-related travel within or outside the UK.

Child allowance (for widowed, divorced, or single parents):

  • £622 per month for the first child
  • £154 per month for the second and third child (under 16 years old), provided the children live with the scholar in the UK.
