About the Carr Center Fellowship 2025

The Carr Center Fellowship 2025–2026 is an academic affiliation offered by the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard Kennedy School. This fellowship is open to scholars, practitioners, and defenders of human rights who wish to advance their work through research, writing, and collaboration within a stimulating academic environment.

Fellows will engage in research and knowledge-sharing activities aligned with the Carr Center’s priorities, gaining access to study groups, faculty interactions, and intellectual exchanges with other experts. The fellowship is non-residential and unpaid, running for one academic year, from September 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

This is a non-residential fellowship primarily conducted at the Harvard Kennedy School. However, fellows will have occasional access to shared office space in Cambridge or Boston.

Eligibility Criteria

  2. Research Proposal: A document (up to 3 pages) that outlines your proposed research, its alignment with the Carr Center’s priorities, and your qualifications.
  3. Executive Summary: A concise 200-word summary of your proposal.
  4. Writing Sample: A relevant sample of up to 10 pages that demonstrates your expertise.
  5. Publications or Deliverables: A list of prior publications or professional outputs, with links or attachments for up to three key examples.
  6. References: Contact information for two referees who may provide recommendations.
