About the Ashinaga Spring/Summer 2025 Internship Program

Applications are now open for the Ashinaga Spring/Summer 2025 Internship Program. Ashinaga is a Japan-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting orphaned students worldwide through educational, financial, and emotional support. For decades, Ashinaga has provided scholarships and mentorship programs to ensure that children who have lost their parents—due to illness, disaster, suicide, or other hardships—have the opportunity to pursue higher education and build fulfilling careers.

Since the internship program’s launch, over 500 interns from more than 90 universities worldwide have contributed to Ashinaga’s mission of transforming into a globally recognized NGO.

For 2025, the Ashinaga Internship Program offers:

Hybrid internships for those based in Japan

Remote internships for those outside Japan

If you’re passionate about social impact, education, and non-profit work, this internship is a chance to gain hands-on experience while contributing to meaningful projects.

Program Overview

Interns will work with various teams at Ashinaga’s Tokyo headquarters under the supervision of a dedicated mentor. The program is structured to provide interns with practical experience in the social sector, exposure to non-profit management, and opportunities to engage directly with Ashinaga scholars and programs.

Duration: 12 May–18 July 2025 (with an option to extend until 12 September 2025 based on performance and team needs).
Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to accommodate academic commitments.
Engagement: In addition to their assigned projects, interns will have access to online events, networking sessions, and interactive discussions to learn more about Ashinaga’s work.

Eligibility Criteria

Ashinaga welcomes motivated and socially conscious individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Ideal candidates should:

Be enrolled in or have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field (education, social sciences, international development, communications, business, etc.).
Have a strong interest in nonprofit work, education, and social impact.
Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Be comfortable working in an international and multicultural environment.
Have proficiency in English (Japanese language skills are a plus but not required).

Additional Notes

Ashinaga does not sponsor visas for international interns.
This internship does not lead to full-time employment, but it provides valuable experience for careers in education, international development, non-profits, and policy research.
Interns must have reliable internet access for remote participation.
