About the AFAC and Netflix Women In Film Grant Program
Applications are now open for the AFAC and Netflix Women in Film Grant Program. The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) and Netflix have partnered to support emerging Arab women filmmakers through a new initiative. This program provides up to $25,000 for short film production, focusing on women in key filmmaking roles, such as directors, writers, producers, cinematographers, and editors. This grant aims to elevate Arab women in film, helping them to produce short films with meaningful impact in the Arab world.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Women between the ages of 21 and 28.
- Arab women residing in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, or the UAE.
- Filmmakers who have directed no more than one short film outside their academic work.
Applicants can apply as teams, with at least two heads of department (e.g., director and producer, or writer and director), and up to five members. Cinematographers and editors can also apply as individuals to join selected projects.
Eligible Countries
The grant is available to Arab women filmmakers residing in the following countries:
- Egypt
- Jordan
- Kuwait
- Saudi Arabia
- United Arab Emirates
Benefits of the Grant Program
Selected projects will receive up to $25,000 to cover the costs of:
- Pre-production
- Shooting
- Post-production
Additionally, filmmakers will benefit from virtual consultations on areas such as scriptwriting and directing. Post-production support will be provided in Saudi Arabia to ensure a high-quality output.
How to Apply for the AFAC and Netflix Women In Film Grant
Applications must be submitted online. Here’s how to ensure a successful submission:
1. Apply Online: Applications are only accepted via the official submission forms. Submissions through regular mail or email will not be considered.
2. Confirmation: Once the application is submitted, applicants will receive a confirmation email.
3. Complete Application: Incomplete applications will not be considered, so make sure all required materials are included before submitting.
4. Forms: Use the Project Proposal Form for team applications. Use the Individual Applicants Form for cinematographers and editors.
