About the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs Program

Applications are now open for the AWE (Academy for Women Entrepreneurs Program) 2025. This initiative, led by the U.S. Department of State, aims to empower women entrepreneurs in Cameroon by equipping them with the skills, resources, and networks to grow their businesses and access international markets.

The AWE Program is a six-month intensive training designed to promote gender equity by supporting women-led enterprises. It provides participants with practical knowledge on enhancing product quality, navigating export compliance, and building strategies for entering the U.S. market.

The program concludes with an AWE Alumni Trade Show and Export Forum, a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses, products, and services.

Eligibility Criteria

Organisations interested in applying must meet the following requirements:

  1. Eligible Organisations:
    • Registered non-profit organisations, think tanks, civil society organisations, and community associations.
    • Former participants of U.S. government exchange programs.
    • Non-profit media organisations, professional organisations, and educational institutions (non-profit or government-owned).
  2. Exclusions:
    • For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible.
  3. Additional Requirements:
    • Organisations must possess a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) from SAM.gov.
    • Must adhere to equal employment opportunity and non-discrimination practices.

Required Documents for Application

Applicants must prepare the following documents to complete their submissions:

  • SF-424: Application for Federal Assistance (Organisations).
  • SF-424A: Budget Information for Non-Construction Programs.
  • SF-424B: Insurance for Non-Construction Programs (if applicable).
  • Proposal: A detailed plan of no more than 15 pages.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): For key personnel involved in the project.
  • Letters of Support: From program partners confirming their participation.
  • NICRA Document: The most recent Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (if applicable).
  • Authorisation Letters: Official letters as required.

Benefits of the Women Entrepreneurs Program

Participants in the AWE Program 2025 can expect the following:

  1. Financial Support:
    • Award amounts range from $25,000 to $35,000, depending on available funds.
  2. Training and Development:
    • Comprehensive training on export compliance, U.S. market entry, and business development.
    • Insights into U.S. market regulations and strategies for scaling businesses internationally.
  3. Showcase Opportunities:
    • Participating in the AWE Alumni Trade Show and Export Forum offers a platform to promote women-led businesses and establish partnerships.

Interested organisations must submit their proposals by email to: PDSgrantsYaounde@state.gov. Please note that the submission deadline is January 10, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Central African Time (CAT).
