About the Research Internship Program
The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has announced the Undergraduate Research Internship Program (UGRIP) for Summer 2025. This fully funded internship provides undergraduate students with hands-on experience in artificial intelligence (AI) research and the opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in the field.
The MBZUAI Undergraduate Research Internship Program (UGRIP) is a summer initiative aimed at equipping students with practical skills and research knowledge in artificial intelligence. Through this program, interns will work closely with faculty members, tackle real-world AI challenges, and gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
The program focuses on the following key areas of AI research:
- Computer Vision
- Machine Learning
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Specialized applications such as anomaly detection, speech recognition, and AI model optimization

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the internship:
- Be a current undergraduate student in their third or fourth year, enrolled in a STEM-related field such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, or data science.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent academic performance.
- Provide the following documents:
- An official university enrollment letter confirming current student status
- Academic transcript reflecting grades and GPA
- A Statement of Purpose (maximum 400 words) explaining interest in AI research and the goals for participating in the program
- Proof of English proficiency with a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 90, IELTS Academic score of 6.5, or equivalent certification
- A valid passport with at least one year of validity from the program’s start date
