About the David Sainsbury Scholarship

The University of East Anglia (UEA) is pleased to announce applications for the prestigious 2025 David Sainsbury Scholarship for international students. This program is a fully funded opportunity for outstanding candidates to pursue a Master’s degree in Global Plant Health in the UK.

The David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health, supported by The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL), aim to address critical global challenges in plant health. These scholarships provide exceptional students with the resources to advance their academic and professional journeys in plant health research.

Scholarship recipients benefit from full tuition fee coverage, maintenance grants, and travel allowances. Designed for high-achieving students, the program focuses on candidates with academic and professional experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, or related fields. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify for the David Sainsbury award:

  • Admission Requirement: Must hold an offer of a place on the MSc in Global Plant Health at UEA.
  • Full Scholarship Eligibility:
    • Must be a national of or domiciled in a least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income country, as defined by the 2024-25 DAC list.
  • 50% Fee Scholarship Eligibility:
    • Open to nationals of or residents in upper-middle-income or higher-income countries (including the UK).
  • Students already enrolled in the MSc in Global Plant Health are not eligible for other UEA scholarships.

Applicants must prepare the following documentation to support their application:

  • Completed application form for the MSc in Global Plant Health.
  • Academic transcripts and certificates.
  • Proof of nationality or residency for eligibility verification.
  • Personal statement outlining experience and interest in plant health research.
