Responsibilities Of The Wipfli Accounting Interns

Interns will be expected to carry out a variety of accounting-related tasks using their training and experience, including:

  • React promptly, accurately, kindly, and professionally to requests from clients and business associates.
  • Answer questions from the client and collaborate with them to obtain the data needed to finish the relevant paperwork.
  • Apply your knowledge of data analysis to find relevant information and trends that will bolster your recommendations. 
  • Find ways to improve processes proactively in order to boost productivity.

Tax Specific:

  • As instructed by engagement leaders, prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns and projections in compliance with firm and professional standards.
  • Recognize and use accounting and tax software programs today with effectiveness.
  • Examine financial reports and other matters pertaining to taxes.
  • Interview tax returns a restricted number of times as necessary.

Audit Specific:

  • As instructed by engagement leaders, carry out audit, review, and compliance testing procedures in compliance with firm and professional standards.
  • Keep engagement leaders informed about open items, issues with testing, and other critical issues on a timely basis.
  • Finance statements, management reports, and other engagement outputs should be prepared (or reviewed) by the client.
  • Become proficient in GAAP technical aspects, particularly as they pertain to the designated product line.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The goal is to obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, which requires passing a class on individual or corporate taxes. 
  • Above average competency in accounting as demonstrated by college GPA; minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Working towards eligibility to sit for the CPA exam upon graduation (150 credits)
  • Preferred coursework in data analytics or big data
  • Ability to think independently and make good decisions based on education and experience
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are needed to effectively communicate with clients and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize work, follow through on requests, take initiative, and meet deadlines
