About The Union for the Mediterranean UfM Internship Program
Applications are now open for the Union for the Mediterranean UfM Internship Program, offering a paid internship opportunity for young graduates and postgraduate students. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply before the deadline.
The Internship Program at the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean UfM provides young professionals with the chance to gain hands-on experience in an international and multicultural environment. Interns actively contribute to various projects that align with UfM’s mission, gaining valuable insights into regional and international cooperation efforts. The program enhances professional skills, broadens networks, and fosters personal growth.
Eligible Fields
Internships are available in the following fields:
- Energy & Climate Action (ECA)
- Water, Environment, and Blue Economy (WEBE)
- Directorate for Operations and Partnerships (DOP)
- Legal and Administration
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be under 30 years of age.
- Be a national of any UfM Member State.
- Be enrolled in a degree or post-secondary education program at the time of application and throughout the internship, with at least one year of full-time studies completed.
- Have a good command of English (both spoken and written). Knowledge of French, Spanish, and/or Arabic is an asset.
Selection Criteria
Candidates are evaluated based on:
- Their academic background and field of study to ensure alignment with the internship’s focus areas.
- Their motivation and interest in UfM’s work.
- Their language skills and ability to communicate effectively in an international setting.
- Their potential to contribute to the assigned department’s activities.

Eligible Countries
Only nationals of UfM Member States are eligible to apply.
Benefits of the Union for the Mediterranean UfM Internship Program
Selected interns will receive:
- A monthly stipend of €550.
- An additional housing allowance of €550 for interns not residing in the Barcelona area before the internship.
- Hands-on experience in a multicultural and international organization.
