
About Texas Christian University Scholarship
The Department of Environmental and Sustainability Sciences at TCU (https://cse.tcu.edu/environmental-sciences/) has opportunities available for prospective MS students (starting Fall 2026) in the area of urban and community forestry.
Potential research projects include:
- evaluating the effectiveness of urban tree planting programs after disaster events,
- examining the impacts of urban forest loss on ecosystem services, and
- assessing trees’ contribution to human thermal comfort in highly walkable communities.
The Research projects will be grounded in the emerging field of sustainability science and use quantitative or qualitative methods to examine interactions between social and natural systems.

Eligibility Criterias for the 2026 Texas Christian University Scholarship
- Have a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in a major in environmental science, biology, geology (or the equivalent) or a major in one of the other sciences, or engineering, or one of the social sciences.
- Students with undergraduate preparations different from these will be considered after careful review.
- Students must have completed at least one year of biology, one semester of physical geology, one year of chemistry, one semester of calculus or one semester of introductory statistics.
- The GRE is not required. Any submitted GRE score is part of a holistic review of each application.
Texas Christian University Scholarship Benefit
- The Texas Christian University Scholarship includes full tuition, a $16,500 stipend per academic year, and a one-time summer research support up to $3,000
