- Africa: Includes countries such as Burkina Faso, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, South Africa, and Swaziland.

- Europe

The scholarship is applicable to all undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programs offered by participating universities in Taiwan. Students may select from a wide range of disciplines to further their education and career goals.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Taiwan Higher Education Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship
- Must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries listed above.
- Must also satisfy any additional criteria established by their country of citizenship or government.
- Exclusions
- Applicants must not be a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
- Must not hold the status of an overseas compatriot student.
- University Admission Requirements
- Must meet the admission criteria of the partner university where they wish to study.
- Visa Requirements
- Must be eligible for a Resident Visa (Code: FS) issued by Taiwan’s Bureau of Consular Affairs and an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) issued by Taiwan’s Ministry of the Interior. Scholarships may be revoked if these visa requirements are not met.
- No Concurrent Scholarships
- Applicants must not hold another ROC (Taiwan) government-sponsored scholarship, such as the Taiwan Scholarship, during the same academic year.
- Reapplication Conditions
- Applicants who have previously held a Taiwan ICDF scholarship must have returned to their home country for at least one year before reapplying.
- Past Record
- Applicants must not have had a scholarship revoked by any ROC (Taiwan) government agency or institution and must not have been expelled from a Taiwanese university.
Benefits of the Taiwan Higher Education Scholarship
The Taiwan ICDF scholarship provides comprehensive financial support to its recipients:
- Undergraduate Program (Maximum Duration: 4 Years)
- Monthly stipend: NT$12,000 (equivalent to NT$144,000 annually).
- Master’s Program (Maximum Duration: 2 Years)
- Monthly stipend: NT$15,000 (equivalent to NT$180,000 annually).
- PhD Program (Maximum Duration: 4 Years)
- Monthly stipend: NT$17,000 (equivalent to NT$204,000 annually).
These allowances are designed to cover food, miscellaneous living expenses, and other personal needs.
How to Apply for Taiwan Higher Education Scholarship
Step 1: Complete Online Application
- Applicants must visit the program webpage to access the online application system.
- Fill out the application form and print a signed copy.
Step 2: Submit Documents to Local ROC (Taiwan) Office
- Submit the signed application form along with all required supporting documents to the nearest ROC (Taiwan) Embassy, Consulate (General), Representative Office, Taiwan Technical Mission, or project representative in their country.
Step 3: Apply to a Partner University
- Applicants must also submit a separate program application to the partner university of their choice.
Note: Each applicant is only allowed to apply for one program at a time.
Application Deadline
The final date for submission of applications is 15th March 2025.
