About the One World Media Climate and Labour Film Grant
The Climate And Labour Film Grant 2024, a collaboration between the Pulitzer Center, the Financial Times, and One World Media, presents an exciting opportunity for aspiring filmmakers. One World Media is specifically seeking a seasoned filmmaker to produce a short documentary shedding light on the profound impact of climate change on the lives and livelihoods of individuals in the global south. The focus of the documentary will be on the economic transitions occurring in these regions. The aim is to bring forth fresh perspectives, stories, and voices that offer insight into the evolving climate and its effects.
Additionally, Pulitzer’s Our Work/Environment initiative has already delved into the documented risks posed by rising temperatures for workers in various sectors, such as agriculture and manufacturing. Journalists have conducted extensive research over the past two years, visiting multiple countries, including India, Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uruguay, Paraguay, and South Africa. Their primary focus has been to analyze the impacts of extreme heat and weather conditions on vulnerable workers, particularly women, who often serve as heads of households.
The grant is particularly interested in narratives that illustrate the intricate relationship between business, climate, and consumer choices. It also aims to highlight the perspectives of workers and companies, as well as foster accountability in reporting.
